Write your own ode. Pay tribute to something that usually goes unnoticed, such as an everyday object. Bring this in on Thursday typed out and ready to read.
Remember, artists imitate!
Emulate Neruda’s style and tone. He uses many short, enjambed lines to praise, honor, and explore an object. Notice, too, how he also includes an origin story (how the object in question came to be).
The minimum is ten lines, but because your lines will probably be very short, I encourage you to go for twenty lines.
